California which is commonly referred to as the golden state and home to about 39 million people, could soon see a change and give birth to a new state called “New California”, if a proposal by a group of leaders from California becomes successfully.
The leaders led by Paul Preston, released a declaration of independence, declaring their intent to transform the map of the greater California State.
They say California is a failed state and that they’ve become governed by a tyranny.
” The current state of California has become governed by a tyranny and it’s ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California”, he said
“There’s something wrong when you have a rural county such as this one, and it has the same set of problems”, he added
They argue that they are following the U.S consttuition (article 4, section 3) to form the new state, in the same way that West Virginia was formed. They also pointed to the U.S declaration of independent states which states that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.
The group seeks for independence from the state Capitol Sacramento, while taking over most of the states rural counties and leaving the urban areas along the pacific coast to remain under California.

The group while filming the declaration in a sparsely crowded conference room, expressed their concern over a decline in basic essential services like law enforcement, fire protection, transportation, housing, health care, taxation, banking, state pension etc.
It will also be noted that in 2014, Tim Draper sought to split the Golden State into six parts, including the “state of silicon valley”, but failed to make the ballot . Another is the Calexit movement which altogether is seeking for total independence from The United States for the state of California.
Similar to these other movements, the ” New California” movement is well organized with committees and a council of county representatives, but say that it will take 10 to 18 months before they are ready to fully engage with the state 
“Yes, we have to demonstrate that we can govern ourselves before we are allowed to govern”, said Tom Reed, founder of the group.
The group says that ” New California” would ultimately become the sixth largest state and have an estimated 25-27 seats in the U.S House of Representatives.
The proposal if successful, would see “New California” become the 51st State in the United States of America.
